Who am I? I’m a novice at taking good pictures using a digital camera.

Why do I like to take pictures with a digital camera? I think it’s a beauty. You can take as many shots as you like and then delete those horrible pictures.

What are the things that you should note as a novice?

I hope someone could have coach me so that I can avoid the steep learning curve!! I did not go into digital photography by choice. It was by chance. I remembered the first digital camera I had was a lousy bulky web camera. It’s a dual function camera and the pictures taken are really horrible. Its blur and you take really a steady hand and good luck to get a few nice pictures. With the rapid advancement in technology, it is so common to find cameras with at least 6.0 mega pixels with anti-shake technology to help you take the beautiful pictures on earth!

Even though technology plays an important part in the success of taking good pictures, it also takes skill and techniques and lots of practice to achieve the effect. You might be using a very common digital camera, but you have grasped the skill in minimizing its flaws and limitations to take good pictures.

Not all cameras are perfect. You might find one camera with a good macro feature (such as Fujifilm F31d) that can take nice close up pictures or one that can take great night pictures. I’m still learning to take good night pictures with my Fujifilm camera. I’ve seen great pictures posted in blogs and kept on figuring out on why my night pictures look so horrible.

One thing for sure, the more sensitive a digital camera is, the slightest shake (even though you might not feel it) would cause the pictures to be blurred. This is especially true in night mode and makes you wonder if you should just get a digital camera that is not so sensitive or to get those with anti-shake or picture stabilizer.

Sometimes it doesn't take much time to learn from books...
