Digital Camera Accessories
Digital cameras come with a lot of accessories to choose from. As digital cameras do not make use of film, they make use of
memory cards. The common memory cards are compact flash, SD cards and the recent ones, xD cards. Depending on the make and model of the digital
cameras, certain brands of memory cards are interchangeable and can be used regardless of model.
Memory Cards
For example, Fujifilm
Compact Flash card are compatible with all audio players, hand held PC's and digital cameras equipped with a Compact Flash slot. Once
magical thing about memory cards is that you are no longer limited by the type of film roll you have but rather by the size of your memory
card. If you buy a 1GB memory card, you might be able to store over hundreds of images and videos. However the number of pictures might vary
according to the quality you choose to save the pictures on. If you save the pictures on a high resolution, you might find that each picture
might take up close to 1MB and thus you can store fewer pictures.

xD memory cards are the latest innovation in digital photography. The cards are small, compact and offers the fast read/write
speed and high capacity that today's newest products require. Currently not all cameras in the market use xD cards. Only Fuji and Olympus digital
cameras make use of this technology. However, it might be catching on as a trend for the latest range of digital cameras rolling out to the
market.
Underwater Photography
If you need to take underwater pictures and want to use your digital camera, you might need an underwater casing. Depending on
your make and model, not all underwater housing can fit your camera. It is usually advised to buy from the same manufacturer to ensure that the
underwater housing fits. This is important as you need a tight housing to avoid sea water to seep into your digital camera and spoiling it.
However the price of an underwater housing is not cheap. If you are looking for one, you could consider second hand which are available in second
hand stores or the Internet. But do exercise caution to check that the housing is in good condition with no cracks that could allow any
seepage.
The housing can be made of polycarbonate shell body, reinforced glass and silicone O-Ring. usually there is a maximum
depth limit such s up to 3 metres or 10 feet. Why do you need this housing? If you are an avid photographer and a snorkeler, you might want to
capture the beautiful underwater creatures and corals in photographs for memories. With an underwater housing, you could make use of flash,
which might not be available in disposable film cameras available in the market.
Tripod
To enhance your pictures and to
prevent blurness, a tripod is recommended. No matter how steady your hands might be, a tripod is essential. If you are taking photographs at
night and using the night mode, there is always a time lag that is set as default by the camera's manufacturer. If your hands slightly
shake during photo taking, you would find that your pictures turn out to be blur. To minimise that, it is advised to have tripod ready.
A tripod also helps to stabilize your camera to ensure that the pictures turn out well. It helps you to pay the attention on
the focus of the object and ensure that your pictures always turn out picture perfect!
Macro Photography
If you intend to do a
photoshoot of products which are small, you might need a macro lens to attach to your SLR camera. You can opt to buy the original make or to
buy a third party macro lens that is compatible. Usually the third party lens is cheaper than the original lens.

Why do you need a macro lens?
The macro lens help to magnify the product and thus shows the detail and definition. Looking for a good macro lens is important. Try to look
for one that offers a range of magnification and reduce flare and ghosting.
